As compared to previous year, the district will see a decline in revenue this year. This was informed in a review meeting of the registration department, chaired by inspector general, Deepali Rastogi here on Wednesday.

last year, the district had earned revenue of Rs941 crore, of which revenue of Rs 330 crore had been realised in the month of March alone. However, as compared to the last year, total revenue in the district by the end of current financial year may veer round to Rs710 crore which would be Rs231 crore, less as compared to previous year.

Till February this year, the district so far had earned a revenue of Rs532 crore, while in the month of March so far, total revenue of the district so far has been pegged at Rs78 crore and by the end of the current financial year, the district may earn additional revenue of Rs100.

Rise in revenue in the district last year has primarily been attributed to exemption in the income tax which had prompted people to invest more. However, in the current year there is no exemption in income tax making people to invest less as compared to last year. While reviewing works of registration department, Rastogi asked the department officials to ensure there is no scarcity of stamps for the registration purpose and carry out registry of property on March 30 and 31 as well and give registry paper to the people on the same day.

In the meeting, it was informed that total earnings from revenue in Indore and Ujjain division may touch Rs1,331 crore by the financial year 2013-14. So far till February this year, the total earnings from revenue in Indore and Ujjain divisions have been reported at Rs995 crore.
