To observe the third anniversary of Swachchhta Bharat Mission, various events are being held in city. Indore Mayor Malini laxman Singh Gaud and Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Commissioner Manish Singh have instructed to organise events marking the D-day.
The events are being held in all the wards of the city on the theme ‘Swachchhta Hi Sewa’. On the occasion an awareness campaign is being carried out in city followed with the shramdan activity. Under the series of these activities, an event ‘Swacchta Hi Sewa Pakhwada’ was organised on Saturday.
Observing the Swachchhta Hi Sewa, Pakhwada, an awareness campaign about open defecation was carried out at various locations of the city. Under the awareness campaign the Roko-Toko Abhiyaan was held wherein the citizens were told about the ill effects of open defecation. The rook took abhiyan was organised by IMC and organisations including Basics, divine, Jwala and Shri organisation.
The event was held at Sarwate Bus Stand, Railway Station, Ananad Nagar Railway Station and Dewas Check post. It is noteworthy that Roko-Toko Abhiyan is a unique initiative by IMC initiated under the Swacchta Survey 2018 to bring behaviour change process among citizens on sanitation issue. Under the Roko toko initiative, the IMC discourages people for open defecation and encourages them to use the toilet kiosks kept by IMC at various areas of the city.
Meanwhile, the IMC Commissioner Manish Singh has dismissed labourer of water supply and drainage of zone 6 Jitendra Chauhan from his job. It is noteworthy that Jitendra is not present on duty from July 15, 2015 without any notification.
A department inquiry was held and he was repeatedly notified for explanations. But, there was no reply from Jitendra. Keeping in view all the complaints, Singh dismissed Jitendra from his duties under Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Act 1966.
