As the model code of conduct for the Assembly by poll has come into effect in the Sanwer tehsil of the Indore district, the district election officer has alerted the Indore excise department to check the illegal sale, transportation and manufacture of the illegal liquor.
Assistant Commissioner Excise Indore Raj Narayan Soni has formed different teams led by Indore excise controller Rajeev Dwivedi to trap the smugglers. On Thursday SI Shalini Singh and SI Lakshmikant Ramteke confiscated a alto car carrying 25 boxes of country made liquor. The total worth value of the liquor and car is Rs 4,50,000.
In the last week the Indore excise department have registered 9 cases of 34 (2) in which around 887 bulk litres of country made and foreign liquor worth value Rs 6,95,560 is confiscated from the possession of the smugglers and the 3 four wheelers and 3 two-wheelers have been confiscated worth value Rs 20 lakhs. All the accused have been sent to jail.
