Independent candidate Mohammed Saud emerged victorious from ward number eight of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation defeating Congress candidate and brother of sitting Congress MlA of Bhopal North and former minister of erstwhile Digvijay Cabinet Arif Aqueel’s brother Amir Aqueel and former union minister Arif Beig’s son Nurul Hasan Beig in a triangular contest.

The other prominent losers and relatives of big leaders from this ward are Mohammed Zaheer, brother of chairman of the minority department of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Mohammed Saleem and late Communist stalwart Khan Shakir Ali Khan’s grandson Arif Ali Khan. All eyes were set on the results of ward number eight of the State capital where prestige of colossal Muslim leaders of the State and the city was on stake.

Brothers of Congress leaders Arif Aqueel, sitting MlA and former minister of the State cabinet and Mohammed Saleem chairman of the minority department of MPCC besides senior BJP leader and former union minister Arif Beig’s son and late Communist stalwart Khan Shakir Ali Khan’s grandson were trying luck from this ward that is considered as the heart of Bhopal North assembly constituency of the State capital.

However, despite four big guns that were in the fray from this ward, the locals showed faith in independent young candidate Mohammed Saud making him victorious rejecting relatives of giant leaders. This ward has remained stronghold of Congress since over two decades and the interesting fact is that the mayoral candidate of the grand old party Kailash Mishra used to win from this ward since last four terms.

The election of the ward remain talk of the town right from the day nominations were filed by relatives of big guns and on the counting day also everyone having a little bit of interest in the politics of the city was interested to know the result.
