Three persons were arrested by Ayodhya Nagar police allegedly for abetment of suicide of a 36-year-old married woman at Sagar Avenue. Deceased’s husband and in-laws used to harass her demanding dowry.
According to the police, deceased’s husband Roop Singh, her father-in –law Prem Singh and her brother-in-law were arrested for abetment of suicide of Prem Bai.
The deceased used to live with her husband and three daughters. Her husband was a habitual drinker and use to harass her demanding dowry. It was found in the investigation that deceased was beaten by her husband.
During the investigation Roop Singh and his family expressed ignorance over the issue but when the family members of the deceased were questioned they alleged that Roop Singh and his family used to harass the deceased and have been demanding for long and claimed that they were frustrated over deceased’s three daughters.
The deceased used to manage the expenses and few days ago she went to meet her father in law Prem Singh for providing Roop Singh’s share in the property but instead she was abused and beaten brutally by Prem and his son Salman and humiliated with her in laws the deceased returned and committed suicide on September 25.
Deceased and her husband used to live at temporary shelter at Sagar Avenue for labours. The two used to work at the under construction building. After it was found that the three were involved in the abetment of suicide they were arrested.
The police have registered a case under section 306 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
