State-of-the-art in-house laundry plant was inaugurated on Tuesday at AIIMS Bhopal marking a significant step towards enhancing patient care and hygiene.
The inaugural ceremony was led by the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Professor (Dr) Ajai Singh, who highlighted the critical benefits of this new facility for patient well-being and hospital operations.
Professor Singh emphasized, "With the start of the in-house laundry plant, patients will be able to get better and cleaner bed sheets, blankets, pillows, and other essentials. From the beginning, space was available for a laundry facility within the hospital, but the plant could not be operationalized earlier, necessitating the outsourcing of laundry services.
This posed potential risks to patient safety and hygiene. It was imperative that AIIMS Bhopal establish its own laundry plant on the premises."
The new facility is equipped with six washing machines, two hydro extractors, four dryers, and two calendaring machines for ironing.
Additionally, a separate provision for steam ironing has been included to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and fabric care.
Dr. Kawal Krishan, the faculty in-charge of laundry services, stated, "This facility will significantly improve infection control and patient safety. The cleanliness of bed sheets and other linens is directly related to patient health. With this in-house system, we can now provide better facilities and ensure a safer environment for our patients."
The initiative underscores AIIMS Bhopal's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and patient care. Cleanliness plays a crucial role not only in daily life but also in the swift recovery of patients, and the new laundry plant is a testament to this philosophy.
