Staff Reporter

Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Azad Singh Dabas, who got retired on Tuesday, said that soon he would be coming up with an autobiography that would comprise the sequence of events he faced during his service.

On the day of his retirement, Dabas wrote to the IFS officers association. He stated that during his service of 30 years, he came across several ups and downs and they would be incorporated in the autobiography that he is working on and it would soon be out. He told that in past 30 years, whatever responsibility he was shouldered, he accepted. However, he claimed that he has never worked as ‘Yes Man’ for anybody and thus he could not get much attention from the departmental seniors.

“In past 30 years of service, I never worked under political or administrative pressure and probably this was the reason that in the tenure of my service, I had to face 32 transfers. In this duration, I also faced annoyance of seniors and opposition from juniors, but I am satisfied that I never compromised with my principles,” he added.

Despite the non-cooperative attitude from seniors, Dabas claimed that he introduced tribals welfare schemes in the forests and ensured that they remain committed towards conservation of forests.

In the letter, Dabas further stated that he is committed for the conservation of forests and thus he has formed a voluntary organization ‘System Parivartan Sangh’ through which in coming days he would continue to work among the forest officials and the forests.
