The Indore Development Authority which is constructing affordable houses for the urban poor under the Jawahar lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), will ensure that there is no increase in construction cost for these houses so as to ensure that it remains well within the reach and budget of the urban poor.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the IDA board of directors held here at the IDA office on Monday. The IDA chairman Shankar lalwani talking to the mediapersons said as the Government gives 50 per cent discount in guidelines on lands allotted for the construction of affordable houses, the benefits of the same should essentially reach the urban poor and accordingly the IDA has decided not to increase construction cost on such houses so that remain affordable for the urban poor.
As decided in the meeting, the IDA will get prepared a revised detailed project report (DPR) for the Super Corridor before sending it to the Union government through the state government for its approval under the JNRUM. lalwani said the DPR of Super Corridor had been prepared five years back. However, with the extension of the tenure of the JNRUM by the Union Government, the IDA has decided to prepare a revised DPR for the Super Corridor for its infrastructural development before sending it to the Union Government.
As decided in the meeting, the IDA will not pay any additional fee for the preparation of the revised DPR to its consultant who will be paid one per cent of the total project cost after approval of the DPR by the Union government, the IDA chairman added.
He said the IDA board in its meeting also took a serious note of abnormal delay in the completion of Kesharbagh over bridge. In this regard, the board has decided to act tough on the contractor concerned, asking it to expedite the completion of over bridge at the earliest.
In the meeting, the IDA also decided to frame a uniform policy wherein IDA’s small property will be sold and disposed off at lower prices as well as no profit no loss basis, while at the same time IDA will try to get big profit margins on sale of its bigger property.
In another important decision, the IDA board has decided to act tough on 21 businessmen who have started construction works on land allotted to them on lease basis in New loha Mandi without getting NoC from the IDA and sanctioned maps from the Indore Municipal corporation.
