Over the opposition members allegations of short session, the Speaker Girish Gautam has taken a major decision of extending the time of about three and a half hours daily.
Talking to reporters, the Speaker said that the Business Advisory Committee meeting was held before the monsoon session. In this, it was decided that one and a half hour lunch has been abolished in the afternoon. The House will run till 7.30 pm instead of 5.30 pm. By doing this the duration has been extended by 3 and a half hour. If needed, the time can be extended beyond 7:30pm.
On the allegations being made by the opposition on keeping the duration of the assembly session for five days, Speaker Girish Gautam said – “I do not want to get into this matter. All are honorable to us. Take a look at the record, we have no problem. They have also got the opportunity to run the government. There is still an opportunity to run the assembly. It is going on in Chhattisgarh and is going on in other places”.
Speaker said- “We have requested the MLAs of the opposition and opposition to set a good example in the country. Start this session and keep it the center of discussion and dialogue. Our assembly should not be just for rioting and attacking. Rather, it should be known that the best discussions and conducted according to the most systematic way.
He further said that any subject which comes on the floor of the Assembly should not stop without discussion. Legislators should get an opportunity to discuss. We are working for e-assembly key. 100% e-assembly should be implemented latest by the budget session in March.
