State Congress has alleged that the hooliganism of Home Minister Umashankar Gupta and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders is at its peak.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria in a statement here on Thursday said, “By attacking the Election Commission (EC) team, supporters of Gupta have proved that they could go to any extent for winning the election.”

Bhuria further said that on the one hand chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan makes false claims of providing security to the people of state, while on the other, the home minister is threatening the masses.

The chief minister and his ministers and BJP leaders of the state at the place of providing security to the people are providing patronage to goons. The conditions are so worst in the state that the police have to take prior permission of the home minister for arresting goons and criminals, he added.

He said that last days some BJP leaders and supporters of home minister attacked EC team. Gupta supporters made captive a videographer of the EC in front of the police personals. This incidence shows that the home minister could go to any extent for winning the election, he added.

Bhuria, also a former union minister said that during the Shivraj Singh Chouhan regime the crime graph in state raised enormously, now a day’s maximum crimes take place in Madhya Pradesh. Conditions are so worst that the common man fears from coming out of his home due to fear of goons and hooligans and due to the patronage of home minister his supporters are openly doing crime in broad daylight, he added.

He demanded that the EC should take strong action against Home minister gupta and his supporters for attacking its team.
