It is rightly said that it is next to impossible to understand women. The perplexity was hilariously showcased through a Hindi play ‘Mayavi Sarovar’.
The play was staged at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Friday. It was performed under the regular series of stage drama ‘Abhinayan’ organised by tribal museum every Friday. The comedy-drama genre Mayavi Sarovar took the audience on an expedition into the heart of a woman.
‘Mayavi Sarovar’ is a philosophical comedy written by Shankar Shesh, the story of which revolves around Raja Ilvalu. Directed by Puneet Chandra, the play was performed by the artists of Ek Rang Socio Cultural Society, Bhopal.
The king despite enjoying all worldly pleasures, a beautiful queen and being a good king of his kingdom he still feels the lack of something new and interesting in his life. That is when the story takes an interesting turn, when the Raja goes into a mysterious forest and jumps into a magical pond and comes out in form of a complete and beautiful woman. He enjoys being the woman in every little thing he does.
Conflict arises when it seems that the king is still in the hangover of his earlier life as a Kshatriya and he wants his son, Kumar to take over the throne from Anshumaali, i.e. his earlier son with the queen. On the other hand, the queen wants justice, as she has lost her husband and now due to him, she may even lose her command over the throne.
lord Indra is then summoned upon to deliver the final verdict.
The play was splendidly performed leaving the audience in whirl of laughter.
