SR

A Hindi play Box was staged here on Monday at Shaheed Bhawan. The play was staged on the third day of four-day national theatre festival being conducted by Shadow Theatre Group, Bhopal. The play tells the story of people who live in their limited world and react to different situation accordingly. Written and Directed by Manoj Nair, this was the third show of the play presented by Shadow Group.

It is a compilation of three short stories narrating about the life of three different people. Use of strong narration by four female artists added more zeal in the presentation.

It focuses on the fact that every individual needs to face hurdles in life to reach the destination. The play had a very strong beginning showing Yamraj taking away the life of a man and the man is pulling up his box along. This represents that even after death man does not leave his originality behind.

The first story is all about childhood that shows that nowadays children are ruled by technology and competition. They are not able to enjoy the childhood, but are always busy in competing with one another. The second story is a light hearted comedy and a satire over people who speak a lot and show-off as if he knows everything. This story is about a character Sharmaji who likes to show-off, but he does not have anything. The last story is about a flute player who plays the flute brilliantly, but when he gets a better job he leaves his passion behind and moves forward.

The backdrop of the play was kept simple. The lighting and music was kept mild that added more enchantments in the performance. The play was a delightful experience for the theatre-goers, a simple script yet interesting with impressive improvisation.
