He is lying on his death-bed and everyone else was looking at him with happy faces. It was tough moment for all who loved him, but still sang songs to celebrate his life. This is how a showman of stage was bid good-bye forever.

With this introduction scene on stage, the artists of Street Fact Drama Group created an emotional ambiance in auditorium.

Showcasing the flamboyant life of an artist, a Hindi play ‘Babu Ji’ was beautifully performed on Wednesday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium.

The play directed by a young playwright Wasim Ali, was written by Mithileshwar and was adapted by Vibhanshu Vaibhav.

The story of the play revolved around a man called lallan Singh aka Babuji.

Presented in Nautanki style, the artists wonderfully showcase the entire lifestyle of lallan. His life is totally attached with dance and music.

His feelings, his inspirations, his pain, his joy, his agony, everything is linked with the music.

lallan is thakur and is an orphan, but due to circumstances he was not able to enjoy the luxuries. As he grows up, lallan falls in love with Kaushalya, but again he was not supported by the society.

Still lallan marries her and both have a family with three children. It seemed like the problems were never ending in lallan’s life. lallan wanted to be an artist and really work hard for it.

Babuji wants to attain perfection in his musical career. Disregarded and dishonoured by his own family and society, he establishes himself independently in music. His family leaves him alone in those hard times, still he worked for his dream.

Years later he gets an invitation to perform a nautanki show at a marriage. He accepts the invitation only to discover that it was from his daugther's in-laws. It was his daughter’s marriage.

He performs the nautanki and just after that was on his death bed.

The audiences were enthralled to watch such a mesmerizing show on stage.

“Through this play I just wanted to tell people about the life of an artist. It is full of colours and moments,” said director Wasim Ali.
