Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government is committed to the welfare of those who are at the bottom and lag far behind in development. These classes also have the first right over the Government treasury. Tribal society is basically a society of simple people, who lag behind in the race for development. The backward tribes have the right over every resource of the earth just as much as others. That is why I am sending your rightful money to your accounts, he said.

The CM was addressing a video conferencing programme organized for the transfer of Aahar Anudan Yojna to women of Sahariya, Baiga and Bharia tribes through a single click. Chouhan transferred an amount of Rs 21 crore 92 lakh 58 thousand to the accounts of 2 lakh 19 thousand 258 beneficiaries by single click at a video conference at Mantralaya.

Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Meena Singh and Principal Secretary Pallavi Jain Govil were also present in the programme.

Chouhan also interacted with the beneficiaries through video conference. It may be noted that, an amount of Rs. 1000 is transferred directly to the account of the female head of the family to improve the nutrition level of special backward Baiga, Bharia and Sahariya tribe families under the Aahar Anudan Yojna.

The Chief Minister also released a book focusing on the study conducted by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Bhopal on the impact assessment of Aahar Anudan Yojna.

Chouhan said that the previous government had not paid food subsidy to the backward tribes. We started releasing food subsidy to the accounts of women of Sahariya, Baiga and Bharia tribes soon after forming the government. More than Rs 226 crore has been transferred to the accounts of more than 2.22 lakh women so far this year. Now the amount will be released in these accounts every month.

Chouhan said that the state government has special concern for tribal brethren.
