Vairagyanand Giri alias Mirchi Baba has been arrested in a rape case by Gwalior police and handed over to Bhopal; he was arrested from a hotel in Gwalior on Monday night.
The action was taken after 28-year-old woman of Bhopal had lodged a case of rape in the Mahila police station Bhopal.
The victim lives in Raisen and she told the police in the complaint that she got married four years ago but does not have any issues from the marriage and to take blessings for having children she met Mirchi who claimed that she would have a son after performing puja. In the name of treatment, the woman was raped by sedating her. The incident reportedly took place in July this year.
Gwalior ASP Rajesh Dandotia's team took action based on input from Bhopal Police. Dandotia and his team arrested Mirchi Baba from Hotel Narayanan in the night and handed him over to Bhopal Police. It is said that the Bhopal Police Commissioner called SSP Gwalior in this regard.
The victim in her complaint stated that even after four years she was not having children and had undergone treatment for the same but without any positive result. A month ago her neighbour told that Mirchi Baba is famous for blessing children.
She contacted Mirchi and discussed her problem after which she shared with her husband and after talking to Mirchi Baba several times she went to meet him for taking medicine at Minal Residency on July 17 he gave medicines where he sedated and raped her.
