Putting aside the routine notion of prayers, the one of its kind Mahila Utsav Samiti of Bhopal came up with a unique idea of distributing books and pencils as prasad (religious food offering) among the needy students.

Residents of Indra Vihas, Lal Ghati, the all women’s team of the Samiti urged the devotees to get pencil and books as prasad. “We asked the devotees to bring with them a book and a pencil as prasad for Ganeshji, as a move to promote child education. I am a teacher myself and we understand the importance of education, especially to those for the needy. We then distributed these books and pencils to the needy students of Concept School, Bhopal,” Molly Bose, President of Mahila Utsav Samiti said.

In an attempt to promote self defense among girl child, the Samiti has also invited ASP Crime Rashmi Mishra who will enlighten the residents on social security and digital security. “Each year we try and invite people from the administration who talk about various social and civic issues. This year, our guest is ASP Crime Rashmi Mishra who would visit our Pandal on Saturday and also speak about social and digital security,”  Molly added.

The Samiti was initialized in 2011-12 by children. They organized the first Ganesha festival and then could not continue due to their studies.
