The Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Women's Hockey Cup Tournament will begin from Monday. The tournament will be played at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Ground. At the tournament 12 women’s hockey teams from across the country will showcase their talent.
It is to be noted that the tournament is being organised by GAIL India Ltd., New Delhi and Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Madhya Pradesh. The five day tournament will continue till Saturday. Interestingly, the winning cash prize of the tournament is Rs 11 lakh and will be inaugurated by State Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Yashodhara Raje Scindia.
At the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Women's Hockey Cup tournament organized by Sports and Youth Welfare Department teams including UCO Bank Haryana, Hockey Kapurthala, Delhi Hockey team, SAI Gujarat, SAI New Delhi, Sonepat Haryana, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy Gwalior, Mayor XI Bhopal, SAI Bhopal, Indian Railways team, BOR (Bina oil refinery) team of Bina and Bhilai Steel Plant Bhilai will participate.
It is to be noted that under the tournament's cash prize of Rs 11 lakh, the winning team will be rewarded with the prize of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh for the runner-up team and Rs 2 lakh for the third-place team. Apart from this, the awards will also be given to Best Forward, Best Midfielder, Best Deep Defender, Top Sorter and Player of the Match in the tournament. Four-four matches will be played each day from 7:00 am daily between teams consisting of four pools under the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Women's Hockey Cup Tournament.
