Staff Reporter

After the banned Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) members were shifted to Bhopal Central Jail, the Jail Headquarters has issued fresh security guidelines to the jail superintendents.

The main stress in the guideline has been on the presence of mobile phones in the jail premises. It was stated that mobile phones should not enter the premises, no matter whether by jail staff or officials.

Jail DIG Sanjay Choudhary, in the fresh directives issued on Monday, stated that the security at the gates of the jails should be fool proof and the mobile phones should be taken into possession, no matter if they are found in possession of jail officials or lower staff. He directed that the jail officials and employees should be checked properly by frisking, so that they cannot take their mobile phones with them.

He further stated that he has come to know that the jail officials and employees take their vehicles in the jail premises. It should be stopped immediately, he said, adding that only vehicles carrying food articles and lPG cylinders for cooking food should be allowed in the premises.

Choudhary also pointed out that in any situation heap of garbage should not be allowed in the premises, as these heaps are used by the prisoners in hiding their illegal articles. The garbage should immediately be removed from the jails and it should be ensured that garbage is taken out regularly, he added.
