Fresh move to merge Kolar municipality in BMC

SR

Efforts to merge Kolar municipality into Bhopal Municipal Corporation have started once again on the initiative of Bhopal MP Alok Sanjar. Earlier, former Bhopal MP Kailash Joshi had tried for the merger.

In a letter to the District Collector, Nishant Warwade, Sanjar has instructed to make arrangements of the merger after which the Collector has written to the State government to merge Kolar municipality and other villages in the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The proposal was earlier rejected by the state government. The District Collector's letter has created uneasiness in the administration and political circles.

The State Government had rejected the earlier proposal on June 3 and the information was given to the State Election Commission. After the rejection a meeting was held on June 9 in which decision of making separate lists of voters for Kolar municipality and BMC was taken.

The proposal of merger of Kolar municipality with the BMC was proposed by former Bhopal MP Kailash Joshi but the main role in the rejection of the proposal in the month June was played by MlA Rameshwar Sharma and the locals. local leaders and mohalla committees organized a ceremony and felicitated Sharma which was not liked by big wigs of the BJP after which the process of merger was started for the second time and the state government has to decide accordingly.

The process has been started but how long it will take and what would be the implications remains unanswered.
