A French musical troupe would enthrall the audience with French classical music wrapped up in the fun of jazz here on Thursday at Bharat Bhavan. Organised by Alliance Francaise de Bhopal and the Indo-French Cultural Centre. The concert will be performed by ‘Ensemble Imaginary Folklores (IF)’.

Further, an eminent sitarist Smita Nagdev would accompany the French group for two compositions. While talking to The Pioneer, Public Relation Officer of Alliance Francaise de Bhopal Josmi Joy said, “This time we wanted to do something different for the music lovers of the city so, we have combined Indian classical music with the French jazz concert. It will be a great treat for the Bhopalites,” she added.

Smita Nagdev is a well renowned sitarist and has given various international performances across the world. Besides, Smita has played with world renowned artist Benny Prasad in jugalbandi on guitar. It was a fine mixture of weternised musical instrument with the Indian classical essence.

On the other hand, IF Ensemble represents the coming together of an acoustic world music trio and a visual artist. The group creates a blend of warm, engaging music and captivating visual imagery. The group derives its inspiration from this very cultural diversity creating music which is not only steeped in the traditions of classical and jazz music but which also integrates the latest in

digital arts.

The group composes, improvises and plays its own music, images and scenography. A visual artist will be on stage. He will be mobile and as the music changes, he will manage the scenography, the lighting and the video projections. Created in Brussels in 2010, IF Ensemble is currently in the process of recording its first album.
