The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has claimed that it is making all out efforts to prevent human-animal conflict in the corridor very close to the vicinity of Bhopal city where movement of a tiger and tigress is recorded during the past six months.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Narendra Kumar and PCCF – Wildlife Ravi Shrivastava while talking to the mediapersons on Monday, said, “looking at the possibilities of sudden tiger - human conflict in the Kaliyasot – Kerwa area close to the city we started efforts to prevent the worst and started action after formulating a strategy since last ten days.”
Shrivastava claimed that with the support of the people of Bhopal and the media besides all departments of the State, no one has come across the tiger for last five days. This is also an achievement. MP Forest Department is making all out efforts to stop conflict of the tigers moving freely near the city and the human and for this the department is taking full use of technology and the complete staff, he added.
He said we are hopeful that soon the Operation Kaliyasot would come to a conclusive end and for that the department one again insist all the citizens of Bhopal to further extend their cooperation in it.
However, the higher ups of the department failed to reply almost all the media queries and also remain tightlipped over their strategy of Operation Kaliyasot. They were not able to inform that what action they are going to take when the search team of the department finds tigers T1 and T22.
Shrivastava in reply to media queries replied, “I have the powers to take any decision on the spot, once we find the tigers we would take on the spot decision to whether capture the feline and leave it to some other location or to radio-collar it and leave it in the same place. This could not be predicted as it depends on the conditions in which we would be at that time.”
