The potters of the city learned about the various different techniques and forms used in pottery across the globe. A few noted potters from foreign countries including Australia, France and America were here in Bhopal on Tuesday and interacted with the potters of the city at Bharat Bhavan. Through videos and photographs the potters shared their works with the city potters and discussed their experience in pottery. Further the potters also discussed different forms of pottery during the interaction.
As the potters of the city are exploring their talents using their best skills, they also learned about a pottery making in a unique and traditional way during the discussion with the potters of the globe. Notably, ceramic art is something which is being in practice for a decades. Through the pottery making workshop the students have got an opportunity to learn the modified or advanced form of ceramic making, where as many artists stay deprived from such forms of ceramic art, the city potters learned about different forms of pottery making. They explored the unique techniques of terracotta making with the help of wheel pottery.
While talking to The Pioneer, a senior potter of the city Devilal Patidar said, “It was spell binding experience for all learning and learned city potters as they explored the different forms in pottery. We all got to learn a lot.” On commenting over the technique he said, “Even these potters use the similar techniques but the presentation and other necessary procedures are different. The Indian pottery and foreign pottery is as different as Indian psychology and Western Psychology.”
On organising similar events, he said, “Yet it was a day event but in future if we get an opportunity we will surely organise another event like this.” Solitary not the artisans of the country but artists from across the world turn up at Bharat Bhavan. They wonderfully present their shows under one roof. The ceramic discussion also evoked a huge response by the potters, especially young potters.
