The Dewas police have successfully dismantled an inter-district gang involved in the production and circulation of counterfeit currency. The operation, led by the Bank Note Press Police Station, resulted in the seizure of fake currency worth Rs 15.41 lakh, along with high-tech printing equipment including printers, scanners, laptops, and other materials used in the illegal production of notes. Five individuals have been arrested, including the prime accused who reportedly masterminded the operation while serving time in prison.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the district police to combat criminal activities and reinforce law and order. The Bank Note Press Police Station's investigation revealed a sophisticated racket involved in the manufacture of fake currency, leading to the seizure of materials and equipment valued at over Rs 16 lakh.

On June 1, the in-charge of the Bank Note Press Police Station received credible intelligence indicating that suspects Sachin Nagar and Shubham Verma were transporting fake currency. Acting swiftly on the information, Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod instructed immediate action. Under the guidance of Additional SP (Urban) Jayveersingh Bhadoria and supervision of Deputy SP (L.R.) Sanjay Sharma, two special teams led by Inspector Amit Solanki were formed to carry out the operation.

These teams successfully apprehended Nagar and Verma and recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 1,96,200, along with a black Splendor motorcycle. A formal case was registered at the Bank Note Press Police Station, and further investigations were launched.

During interrogation, the accused disclosed that the counterfeit currency was being produced at the residence of Rajkumar Malviya in the village of Sonkatch. A swift raid on Malviya’s home led to the arrest of Malviya and Sunil Patil, where the police recovered bundles of fake Rs 500 notes amounting to Rs 13.25 lakh, along with printing equipment and materials. Another suspect, Shaktisingh Chawda, was later arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

The total recovery from the operation included Rs 15,41,200 in fake currency, a laptop, printers, scanning equipment, partially printed notes in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 500, and two motorcycles.
