Ran is a Japanese movie, which stands for 'uprising' or 'revolt'. Directed and written by noted Japanese film maker Akira Kurosawa, Ran was released in the year 1985. It is a Japanese-French epic film starring Tatsuya Nakadai as Hidetora Ichimonji with the running time of 160 minutes. The film follows the story of an aging Sengoku-era warlord who decides to abdicate as ruler in favour of his three sons.

Ran is a relentless chronicle of base lust for power, betrayal of the father by his sons, and pervasive wars and murders that destroy all the main characters. It is a tale about the downfall of the once powerful Ichimonji clan after its patriarch Hidetora decides to give control of his kingdom up to his three sons. The story is based on legends of the daimyo Mori Motonari, as well as on the Shakespearean tragedy King lear. A whole lot of crowd visited to watch the movie. Many youngsters were noticed at the theatre and enjoyed the movie. Some theatre artists of the city were also spotted at the event.
