FCCI: GST will bring new problems for traders

Staff Reporter

GST is being implemented from July 1, 2017 in the whole country as ‘One Nation One Tax’. In this regard, the businessmen associated with the Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) have found that there are several problems that the traders would face and these problems should be removed.

FCCI in a statement said that under the GST if one provision store or general store is selling five items like wheat flour, oil, sugar, toothpaste, detergent cake and power then he has to maintain account according to 0 per cent, 5 per cent, 12 per cent, 18 per cent and 28 per cent. In India even today small and medium industry and retailers are more than 50 lakh. less than 1 per cent of the small and medium industries and business retailers shops have computerised accounting facilities, they have to hire it also one computer operator to maintain GST account.

For last one month, businesses are at its all time bottom line. Retailers and industrialists are confused, transporters are not able to understand the situation what is happening. Under GST, the transporters have to deliver the goods within specific time which is almost not possible in upcountry. Under this law the transporters have to deliver goods same day or within 24 hours up to 100 km.

Most of the population of the India lives in rural area, there are no proper roads in this area but if transporter will deliver the goods then his trucks will get seize, which will broke down his business.

Transporter is as service provider, he is not a reseller or businessman, he deliver whatever goods booked at his point, when full truck good get booked he start deliveries of that goods. In this condition the limitation of the time limit is next to impossible. The Transporter gives his services, he is not selling product, the law which is seizing his trucks, checking that whether he is delivering the goods under time limits framed by the government is creating problem for him and is injustice.

This must be taken into account while thinking of GST rollout in rural area where there is no electricity, or no guarantee when electricity will be there. Online education on computer about GST or its implementation by shopkeepers is next to impossible when there is no telecommunication network also, it added.
