Women laid bangles at the portrait of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on thirteenth day of the fast unto death dharna organised jointly by Kisan Majdoor Praja Party (KMPP) and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) here on Tuesday.
KMPP Organisation Secretary Hemant Sharma informed that the condition of KMPP National President Krishnagopal Mali and BKS State General Secretary Ravidutt Singh who are on fast from May 16 is fast deteriorating. He said that the two leaders are speaking with great difficulty but the Government has turned a blind eye to their demands.
KMPP National President Krishnagopal said that the authoritarian attitude of the Government shows that it is against farmers and workers. “If the Government can so easily ignore the demands raised by farmers sitting on agitation in Bhopal, how can it hear the voice of farmers in villagesIJ The time has come when the farmers and workers should combine to uproot this authoritarian regime,” he said.
BKS State general secretary Ravidutt Singh informed that the major demands of farmers include debt waiver, waiver of electricity bills, revoking false cases against farmers for non-payment of electricity bills, adequate compensation in case of damage by hailstorm or bad weather and other demands.
KMPP state general secretary Bhagat Singh alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are involved neck deep in corruption and oppression. “In the same manner as weeds prevent growth of crops in a field, these parties have become like weeds which are snatching away the rights of farmers. The time has come to uproot these weeds now,” he said. later, women members of these organisations laid bangles at a portrait of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a symbolic display of protest. Acting President of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Sunilam was also present at the dharna.
