The art lovers of the city are enjoying a close look at various ceramic forms in a group exhibition ‘Active Forms’. The exhibition is being put up by five women sculptors and is evoking a good response by the art lovers of the city. The exhibition that was inaugurated here on Friday at Alliance Française de Bhopal’s Gallery would be on view till March 20.

The women sculptors like Nirmala Sharma, Arti Paliwal, Girija Waingankar, Sameeksha Ahirwarand Vrishali Purandare have showcased their works at the gallery.

The exhibition on the inaugural day was followed by an opening dance performance by a theater artist and dancer Gladys Clain. Notably, the five women sculptors are recently working in different mediums mainly ceramics. Here they have their own ways of expressing the form hidden within the clay. They are all working in this medium for a long time and now they are more into exploring the hidden forms rather than struggling to have an identical style.  The medium has absorbed them and they have become one with it so one can see the strong exploited forms in these works. Every ceramic piece is different from each other. After going through a long process of moulding, shaping, firing, glazing and colouring every piece has a distinctive beauty of its own.

Where one artist has displayed the beauty of the pottery and uniqueness of simplicity on the other hand other ceramist has displayed the richness of cultures moulding them into architectural forms. These artists have showcased the emotions and feelings into their works.

The spectators are awestruck to watch the unique creations and inevitable imagination of the artists displayed at one platform. The city artists have molded the wet clay according to their perceptions giving it an enchanting touch and so the viewers are enjoying having a look at them as they walk through the gallery.
