In Ratlam–Jhabua parliamentary constituency bypoll, which is scheduled on November 21, the Opposition Congress in its campaign is making empty treasury of the State Government an issue.

Former leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh addressing several election meetings and rallies alleged that State treasury is empty and to refill it, the Government is gearing up to recover money from common man. “Due to the unnecessary wastage of money on feasts and functions, the treasury of the State Government has dried up and it has been burdened with loan of over `1.5 lakh crore and to fill the empty treasury, the State Government is gearing up to recover it from the pocket of the common man,” Singh said on Tuesday while addressing an election meeting at Kaththiwada area of the Ratlam – Jhabua parliamentary constituency.

Singh further said that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of Madhya Pradesh was running on the money it got from erstwhile UPA Government of the Centre. Soon after assuming office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped various financial aids that State used to get under the UPA rule, this has deteriorated the financial condition of the State Government. And now, it has started looting the pockets of the people. The State Government is soon going to levy VAT on petrol and other products to make recovery from the people, he added.

He said that Chief Minister Chouhan who used to roar during UPA regime is now begging for mercy from his own party Government at Centre. Recently, he demanded help from the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the same manner, he added.

The senior Congress leader said that the Chouhan who squandered crore of rupees for his own branding in the name of Hindi Sammelan and establishment Day functions is getting ready to recover that loss from the pocket of people.
