State Election Commission has decided to hold urban bodies and three-tier panchayats elections 2014-15 through electronic voting machines (EVMs). In this regard, a meeting of former Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries (Election) of the commission and other officers will be held in the conference hall of commission’s office on December 10 at 11 am. At the meeting, discussions will also be held with divisional commissioners/collectors and deputy district election officers.
EVM voting process will be different from voting through ballot boxes and ballot papers. Due to this, prevalent rules and instructions about the process will have to be amended. Besides, decision will also be taken by the State Election Commission regarding best practices adopted in Vidhan Sabha/lok Sabha elections. The meeting will discuss all these issues.
