Cyber crime of the Bhopal police cell has nabbed an engineering student on the charge of blackmailing a girl using obscene photographs; accused created a fake Instagram profile.
Police said that the victim girl was blackmailed by the accused identified as Rajeev Choubey (30) of Parshav Dham colony Bhanpur road; accused made her friend earlier and obtained obscene photographs by making fake facebook profile and later used the photographs to blackmail her.
The victim lodged a complaint with the Cyber crime cell regarding the accused who developed friendship with her by creating a fake facebook profile Arpita few years ago and obtained obscene photographs. Few months ago he created a fake Instagram profile in the name of Shivani Thakur and started to blackmail her on the basis of earlier obtained photographs.
She provided Rs 3000 and later accused demanded big amount after which the victim decided to lodge a complaint. The victim was afraid of the threat given by accused to make her photographs public.
Based on the details police tracked the miscreant and found that the fake profile was operated from Bhanpur area and later nabbed the accused and recovered a mobile phone and SIM card used in the crime.
After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under sections 66 E and 67 of the IT Act and sections 384 and 469 of the IPC against the accused. The details of crimes by the accused would be investigated.
