The crime branch nabbed a miscreant for alleged abduction, murder and extortion after an exchange of gunfire at Nadigate on Tuesday. The accused was shot in arm and admitted to a hospital.The miscreant is a student of an engineering college.The police came to know that the miscreant is Mohan Gupta, who lives along with his associates Ankur and Vishal in the house of Santosh Bhargava at Chandravadani Ka Naka. Both the miscreants were found by the police in Indore and Agra.
They had demanded Rs5 lakh from Abhay Gupta on mobile. The Jaindraganj police were immediately informed and subsequently, the police set up checking points near Moti Tabela they saw the miscreants coming on Splendor bike. As soon as the police checked them they opened fires on cops. After that the crime branch returned fires and Mohan got injured. A 23-bore pistol was recovered from him. He was referred to JAH for treatment. The crime branch interrogates him.
SP Hari Narian Chari Mishra said that there was an encounter with the miscreants at Nadigate last night. The police arrested miscreant Mohan Gupta. During interrogation, he has accepted his involvement in several crimes.Abhay Gupta who was working in Punjab National Bank Thatipur was kidnapped by Mohan Gupta and he had demanded ransom of Rs20 lakh. Mohan said that he had killed Abhay in April 2015. Mohan came to a ghee trader of Dal Bazar as driver. After working for seven days, Mohan stole Rs1.75 lakh and some documents from his office. Mohan took Indica car on rent from Jhansi with his associates Ankur and Vishal.
