An emergency meeting of Executive Council of Barkatullah University (BU) is going to be organised on Saturday.
The emergency meeting of the EC is called for approving the budget.It is worth mentioning that if the budget is not approved by March 31, then university administration will not be able to pay the salary of university officers and employees for the month of March.
The budget has earlier been passed by EC in the emergency meeting organised on March 15 but due to some major changes brought in budget allocation by the public representatives in the university court has forced the university administration to reorganise EC meeting for budget approval.
MlA Vishwas Sarang had proposed relaxation in fees for the students belonging to Below Poverty line(BPl) families.
Sarang demanded that 50 per cent fees relaxation for general courses and 25 per cent fees relaxation for professional courses should be given to the BPl students. Sarang also increased the amount allotted for staff quarters from Rs one crore to Rs two crore and also the amount allotted for constructing national level stadium and special examination hall was increased from earlier allotted Rs 2.2 lakh to Rs one crore.
It is worth mentioning that public representatives had boycotted the BU court meeting where decisions on the annual budget of the university were being taken after the alleged insult of public representatives by BU Vice Chancellor Nisha Dubey.
Public representatives did not let the university budget pass in the court due to which BU administration needs to pass the changes in budget again from the EC before allocation of funds.
