Central and West Region Electricity Distribution Company is running a large scale campaign to light the house by giving free electricity connections under Saubhagya scheme for the families without electricity connection.
The three distribution companies which are operating the massive scheme and implementing it in a speedy manner have appealed the families without electricity connections that to illuminate their homes they should avail benefits of Prime Minister's Sahej Bijli Ghar Ghar scheme.
The department of Energy of the State has given instructions to all the three power distribution companies that only those connections would be considered which would be connected with new service cable under Saubhagya scheme and under the scheme new meter and full kit with new cable connection should be provided.Good quality cables for full satisfaction of the consumers should be used.
The remote regions which have to be covered and require extension should be done on priority to achieve the target of Saubhagya scheme by October this year. The officials of the companies at regional level have been instructed to work accordingly and launch an awareness campaign at Panchayat, Block, Tehsil and District level should be conducted so that family without electricity can benefit from the scheme and illuminate their home.
The scheme has been implemented in a joint effort by central government and state government. Using the data of Social, Economic and Caste Census SECC (2011) free electricity connections to the beneficiaries (urban and rural BPl) identified by the survey would be provided.
Those who are not covered under the scheme would be provided with connections at Rs 500 which would paid by consumer in 10 equal installments in the next 10 months bills.
