Infrastructure grant has been sanctioned under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for upgrading one autonomous college in the State to university, infrastructure development works in three universities, opening five new model colleges, upgrading two degree colleges to model colleges, opening one engineering college and 30 colleges. The sanction has been granted by Project Approval Board of Union Ministry of Human Resources, New Delhi. Of this, Rs134.50 crore will be provided during current financial year. Higher and Technical Education Minister Umashankar Gupta has directed to start sanctioned projects at the earliest.
Under RUSA, Rs55 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade Pt SN Shukla Government Post-graduate College, Shahdol as a university. A sum of Rs20 crore each has been sanctioned for infrastructure development works in Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and Jiwaji University, Gwalior. A total of Rs12 crore each has been sanctioned for opening new model colleges at Jhabua, Sheopur, Harda, Dindori and Umaria and Rs4 crore each to upgrade Government College Sihora, Jabalpur and Government College Depalpur in Indore district to model degree colleges. A new government engineering college will be opened at Dhar. For this, Rs26 crore has been sanctioned under RUSA.
A sum of Rs2 crore each has been sanctioned under RUSA for infrastructure development works in 30 colleges. A sum of Rs 2 crore each has been sanctioned for Government Gitanjali Girls College and Hamidia Arts and Commerce College, Bhopal. Besides, Rs2 crore each has also been sanctioned for Government M.K.B. Arts and Commerce College, Jabalpur, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Hoshangabad, Girls College Khandwa, Govt PG College Sagar, PG College Mandsaur, Madhav Science College Ujjain, Chandrashekhar Azad College Sehore, Swami Vivekananda College Narsinghpur, Girls College Sehore, Girls College Vidisha, PG College Datia, Girls College and Jaiwanti Haksar College Betul, PG College Barwani, Sri Neelkantheshwar College Khandwa, Chandravijay College Dindori, Girls College Katni, Rani Durgawati College Mandla, PG College Satna, Maharaja College Chhatarpur, PG College Sagar, Sitaram Jaju Girls College, Neemuch, Model Science College and others.
