Election Commission of India has asked political parties to submit lists of their star campaigners during Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh within 7 days of election notification. In the state, notification for Vidhan Sabha elections was issued on November 7.
It has been said in the directives that as per section 77 of Representation of People Act, recognised political parties were asked to submit list of 40 star campaigners and unrecognised parties 20 star campaigners. The Chief Electoral Officer has said that only those leaders will be considered as star campaigners whose names have been given by political parties in their lists to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
