Play Durgesh Singh was presented, marking the second day of the Habib Tanveer Smriti Natya Mahotsav.
The theatre fest is being organized by the Sangam Natya Samiti Bilaspur, on the Facebook page of the Sangam Natya Samiti Bilaspur, the drama of Durgesh Singh written by Khederuganj was directed by the artists of the society Society of Cultural and Welfare Bhopal.
The story of the play is woven around Bulla Master, a director of Ramlila. He has performed Ramlila in the village for the last 10 years and considers Ram as his role model.
He wants to do a social drama, depicting social events and arrangements. But the village head Sirpat who is influenced by urban culture as well, is morally and characteristically corrupt. He issues a decree that there will no longer be Ramlila held in the village. Rather, a romantic drama should be written and be performed.
The Bulla Master does not consider the performance of such a play to be good for the village and society. The friends of the Bulla Master listen to their problem and tell them that a girl will also be required for a romantic drama.
So he decides to team up with friends and decides that daughter of the head Nagina will play the female character in the play. In this case, the head of the village will not agree to perform a romantic drama and will refuse to stage such a drama.
But on the contrary, village head feels that this will give him an advantage in the election. The rehearsal of the play begins in which Khisu Pathakhabaz is made a hero but during the rehearsal of the play, Nagina and Khisu fall in love with eachother and both run away before the show.
The panchayat is called on in the village in which the Bulla Master is held responsible for this incident and orders to drive him out of the village is announced. When Bulla goes out of the village, Lord Ram comes in his dream and tells him to write the script of Ramlila and start Ramlila again by learning the virtues of the society’s best King Ram and how one should live an ideal life, so that an ideal society is established in the world.
After which Bulla master makes a strong comeback in that village and save the culture and tradition.
