Dredging up of reservoir under BHEl conservation scheme

Staff Reporter

As a part of the ‘Water Conservation-Environment Conservation’ policy in BHEl Bhopal, dredging of the water reservoir located inside the JP Narayanan Sports Complex kicked off on Thursday.

Under the leadership of DK Thakur, Executive Director and MS Kinra, General Manager (Quality & HR) accompanied by all general managers; employees, trade union representatives, CISF officials and large number of Jawans extended their contribution in carrying out the excavation work. On this occasion the township residents were especially present.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur said that the way the temperature is moving northwards with depleting water sources, the signal is clear of our insensitivity towards the nature. We are completely dependent on nature and if we want to pass on a safe as well as secure environment to our future generations, then it is our duty today to save the environment, further working for its enhancement.

Thakur said that we cannot manufacture water but can store it. He urged the gathering present to become sensitive towards nature.

Bhopal along with the BHEl Township is facing severe water crisis this year. The volume of water supplied to BHEl has been reduced drastically owing to the low availability of water. Keeping in view the forthcoming crisis, the Town Administration Department, BHEl is equipping itself with water storage facilities by deepening of water bodies, stop dams and other water conservation tools. The reservoir in the sports complex stores water and helps in water recharging around the area and witnesses substantial increase in water level.
