The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday removed 42 shops that had been set up on public land in the TT Nagar area of the state capital.

The demolition was carried out by a team comprising BMC workers and the district administration under the guidance of the Smart City initiative.

The focus of the operation was the area near the boundary wall of CM Rise School, which was cleared with the help of JCB machines.

The municipal team also removed encroachments near MANIT and Jawahar Chowk, where makeshift shops, kiosks, carts, sheds, and canopies were removed. Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan, who oversees the operations, stated that the actions were part of the city’s larger goal of keeping public spaces clear and accessible. He said that encroachments not only disrupt public services but also pose safety risks, while describing the operation as a necessary step towards maintaining the integrity of shared urban spaces. The operation comes amid ongoing efforts to enhance the city's infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents.
