A 29-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her father’s residence in Iqbal Colony under Ashoka Garden police station area on Thursday.
According to the Ahsoka Garden police the victim was married to Rajesh Pathak of Bhilai in the year 2009 but within few days the in-laws started harassing her demanding dowry.
A case in this regard was lodged against the victim’s husband and his family.
Unable to bear the atrocities, the victim left the house after two and half months of the marriage and returned to her father’s house at Iqbal Colony.
On Thursday, frustrated by the long proceedings of the case and losing all hopes to get accepted by her husband and in-laws she hanged herself, told the police. The father of the victim Shivnath Dubey was not in a state of recording his statement.
The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and the police have confirmed that it is possible that section 304 (B) would be imposed.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at Ishwar Nagar under Talaiya police station area on Thursday.
According to the police the deceased Ajay Santulal (22) used to work as sanitation worker at Barkatullah University. He was found dead at his residence on Thursday.
The deceased was a drunkard and it is possible that in an inebriated condition he might have committed suicide. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have sent the body for the post mortem.
