Dissent started to come to fore soon after ticket distribution in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP unit on Sunday.
Though the party denied tickets to five sitting MPs, yet it seems to have missed the trick on some other seats as well. Rebellion crept in within hours in party Sidhi unit where district head Kantidev Singh accusing the party of ignoring workers reportedly resigned along with at least half a dozen office bearers.
The anguished party faction is opposing re-nomination of MP Reeti Pathak claiming the ticket should have been assigned to Singrauli district which is part of the Lok Sabha seat.
Opposition that started well before of Tikamgarh MP Virendra Khatik’s nomination continued after the MP was named party candidate yet again on Saturday. Former MLA RD Prajapati who was seeking the Lok Sabha ticket from Tikamgarh has written a letter to BJP president Amit Shah and also left for New Delhi t register protest before party high command. Khatik a native of Sagar district is being dubbed as an outsider in Tikamgarh.
Dissent is also brewing in Morena sitting MP Anoop Mishra, nephew of late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been denied ticket and was replaced by Union Minister Narendra Sigh Tomar who represents Gwalior seat.
Mishra’s hopes of a nomination from Gwalior are dashed as the party has included names of former MP minister Maya Singh, Mayor Vivek Narayam Shejwalkar and Ved Prakash Sharma among probables for the Gwalior seat.
Congress is sitting comfortable comparatively as dissent only has been reported from Hoshangabad against nomination of Shailendra Diwan, son of former Congress minister Chandrabhan Singh Diwan. Shaielndra’s candidature is being opposed for being outsider for Hoshangabad, though he hails to Narsinghpur, part of Hoshanagbad Lok Sabha seat.
Locals, however, claimed the constituency is dominated by OBC and Congress has meticulously chosen Diwan. Name of former Union Minister Sartaj Singh was making rounds ahead of actual declaration.
