Digvijay challenges CM on State development

PNS

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has said the BJP’s “propaganda machinery” will no longer be able to mislead the public, which has understood the difference between the BJP’s words and actions.

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told mediapersons in Gwalior on Friday, “I convey my best wishes to former CM Uma Bharti on her birthday and urge her to exert pressure on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to fulfil promises made to the public during her brief tenure. That will prove difficult as promises made by Chouhan are unfulfilled.”

Claiming that irrigation projects launched during his time at the helm contributed to enhancing agricultural growth, Singh challenged Chouhan to bring before the masses any work done during the latter’s tenure for increasing irrigated area.

“As far as electricity is concerned, I said in 2003 that the public would be supplied plenty of power in 2013. The work initiated in electricity generation sector during my tenure is bearing fruit now. On the Chief Minister’s directive, power worth Rs 19,000 crore was purchased sans tender. Chouhan should provide a public reply. The purchase was made to benefit his own people,” he alleged.

The electricity, roads and water crises have aggravated, Singh said, adding that the regime speaks of supplying power round-the-clock even as a generator was used to provide electricity during the Chief Minister’s programme in Panna.

On Sarabjit Singh, he said, “The Centre succeeded in bringing Singh’s body to India by exerting pressure on the Pakistani regime. The Chinese intrusion is a sensitive matter in the Centre’s jurisdiction. I cannot react to it.”
