During summer diabetes patients can suffer from dehydration, stroke or kidney failure. Thus they must be warned to stay cautious of their health condition, he said.
Chaturvedi said that the changes in the food habits, lack of awareness and health facilities and avoidance of manual labour has caused a rise in diabetes in villages around the capital by 10 times. Previously it was 0.3 per cent in villages which now rose to 3 per cent. At the same time in cities two per cent population suffered from diabetes which now rose to seven per cent. In cities there is awareness in people along with better health care facilities which retarded the rate of rise of the disease among the city population, added Chaturvedi.

The squad will not only test the villagers for diabetes, but they will provide latest information regarding the disease and its management to the doctors in the locality.
