SR

The Director General of Police Madhya Pradesh Nanden Dube issued stern directives to the police officials to act firmly and promptly in cases of crimes against women.

While addressing zonal IGs here on Friday, Dube emphasised that the police should take steps to protect respect and honour of woman and save them from the atrocities and humiliation. While handling the case police should be more sensitive. Sensitisation programmes through seminar, meetings and workshops should be organise to increase the awareness across all the sections of the society and encourage them to participate in the process actively.

He was reviewing the situation of crimes against women in the State here on Friday. During the review meeting, the arrangement and measures to strengthen law and order during the upcoming assembly elections were discussed.

The DGP asked the officials to strictly follow the instructions laid by the election commission. Help should be sought from Nagar and Gram Raksha Samiti. Action within 24 hours should be taken for the complaints received by the woman helpline -1090. Better coordination at the ground level between SAF and Police force will yield better results.

There is a great need of pro-active policing which has to be adopted by the police personnel, claimed Dube. The increased number of rapes with the minor girls in the State is a grave matter of concern and each complaint of such nature should be lodged immediately and the victim should be done as soon as possible. In case of missing complaint of minor girl if required immediate investigation should be initiated, told Dube.

Dube told that the information of the outsiders and immigrant workers should be updated and monitored. Committees at the school and College levels should be formed to spread awareness for protecting the girls and woman.

The criminal law (amendment) ordinance, 2013 and prevention of minors against the sexual offences 2012 should be used extensively. The amendments under the section 166 (a) of the IPC should be used which attracts penalty for negligence in duty by a

government employee,
