The Gwalior Municipal Corporation has failed to ensure regular water supply to the residents of the city. last month the High Court had directed the municipal corporation authorities to maintain the regular water supply in the city.
Though the order was given to Municipal Corporation by the High Court, the regular water supply could not commence till date. In compliance with the directives of the High Court, the Municipal Corporation has taken the decision to provide regular water supply to the residents.
Pubic Heath Engineering (PHE) Executive Engineer RlS Mourya has said that his department can provide regular supply of water in the city when it receives 9 MCFT water.
Municipal Corporation officials have claimed that they have demanded 9 MCFT water from Water Resource Department, on the contrary Water Resource Department SDO Uma Gupta has denied to have received demand of water from Gwalior Municipal Corporation.
If we supply 9 MCFT water to the Municipal Corporation, then the available water at Tighra Dam can be supplied for 200 days and if we supply 7.5 MCFT water, then we can supply it up to April 2017, Gupta added.
In such a situation, the farmers have warned that if they do not receive regular water supply for farming, then they would break the canals. Municipal Corporation officials have enough stock for providing water to the city residents and industries, but said that vehicle washing centres need to be stopped to saved the water.
