The much touted claims of ‘zero pendency of complaints’ by District Election Officer and Collector Nishant Warwade were exposed when he expressed ignorance about the violation of model code of conduct by State Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta.
When the media persons asked regarding action taken on the complaints filed by the District Congress Committee against the Home Minister, Warwade expressed ignorance on the issue and said that he had not received any such information.
Incredible as it, the officer instead raised an absurd and demanded to provide the copy of the complaint. However, he later confided that he would look into matter. It may be mentioned that Home Minister Gupta had attended an inauguration function right after the model code of conduct was imposed in the State which was a total violation of ECI’s model code of conduct.
District Election Officer claimed that the status of the complaints could be tracked by the complainant as written documents are maintained at Collector office only. Many of the vehicles of public representatives are still using strips of their posts. Warwade claimed that he is aware and vehicles found with such irregularities have been fined and would be penalised if more such vehicles are found.
When asked about posters which still stuck on the roadside at 80 ft road in Ashoka Garden of MlA from Narela Assembly seat, Vishwash Sarang, Warwade said that action would be taken and the posters would be removed. Assuring prompt and swift action on the complaints received by the election control room established at the District Collector Office Warwade further informed that complainant would be provided with a resolution within 24 hours. For any information and explanation of rules regarding elections the office bearers of political parties could directly contact the officer involved in election work.
