Dam water supply can only be for eight months, GMC told

PNS

Gwalior Municipal Corporation officers were perturbed after receiving the report from Water Resource development to resolve issue of the regular drinking water supply from Ramoua Dam.

Water Resource Development has mentioned in the report that if regular drinking water is supplied from this dam, then the supply could be made only for eight months.

As what would be done for remaining four months, the question still remains unanswered.

Now this report has put the Municipal Corporation officers in trouble as it is quite obvious that Tighra dam didn’t satisfy the demand of drinking water as it is in high demand.

The permanent resolve of drinking water was discussed and decided that to get the supply from Chambal River. When it was decided to get the supply of drinking water from Chambal River then on calculations it was found that it would be an expensive affair and later the option of Ramoua Dam was considered.  Now, the Municipal Corporation has to take a decision after consulting the issue in the light of the report, with the Water Resource Development.

Earlier, Water Resource Development Principal Secretary had inspected the Ramoua Dam and submitted the affirmative report.  Recently, Principal Secretary of Water Resource Development Pankaj Agarwal has inspected the dam along with other officers.

To reduce the load of Tighra Dam it was planned to get the drinking water supply from Harsi High level and PS has given the green signal to it. From Ramaou Dam Morar area will cover up to get the supply of drinking water.  RlS Maurya Chief Engineer of PHE department has said that Water resource development has given their study report of Ramoua Dam and subsequently Ramoua Dam will receive water for only eight months from Harsi Dam.
