Curfew continues in this district headquarters that was clamped following stone-pelting and other forms of violence that claimed two lives and injured two persons including a female Corporator Yasmin Sherani, but the situation is “under control” and dozens of people were taken into custody.

Police said additional forces were deployed in all three police station limits where curfew was clamped on Saturday afternoon. The funeral of a certain organisation's district office-bearer, who was a victim, was conducted amid tight security.

The body of the office-bearer's employee is being conveyed to his hometown in Rajasthan. In both cases, death was caused by firing and stabbing.

The Corporator, who was attacked first through gunfire by multiple assailants, was rushed in grievous condition to a local hospital and then referred to Indore where she is better. Subsequently, a mob forced closure of shops, pelted stones and perpetrated other forms of violence.

Some persons targeted the office-bearer within his shop. His employee was hurt while endeavouring to save him.

The victims' names are being withheld. However, the district collector while talking to ‘The Pioneer’ said that the situation is under control and the city remain calmed throughout the day. Though no relaxation was given in the curfew but if the situation persists the authorities may provide relaxation in the curfew on Monday morning for ladies and children.
