Crime branch have arrested eight gamblers and recovered Rs 56300 cash and mobile phones from their possession from Mangalwara area in the raid on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off regarding gambling near house of Raees Mandi in Mangalwara area team rushed to the spot and nabbed the gamblers. The details of the transactions would be investigated and the call record details of the mobile phones recovered from the spot would be checked.
Police have started further investigation into the matter. The nabbed accused were identified as Mohammad Hanif, Afsar Khan, Mohammad Anwar, Mohammad Salman, Shaikh Sameer, Rashid and Kanhaiyalal Jaat. The crime record details of the gamblers and other details would be investigated in the further investigation.
Meanwhile, five gamblers were nabbed near Jain traders Bawadiya Kalan who were accepting bets IPL T20 match and recovered Rs 10350, TV receiver, two remote controls, mobile phones and diary having transactions from their possession on Friday.
The gamblers were accepting bets on Delhi and Chennai IPL T20 match. A case under Gambling Act was registered by the police and further investigation has been started.
The mobile phones recovered from the possession of the accused would be investigated and details of persons who are involved in placing and accepting bets would be revealed.
