Crime Branch Bhopal arrested a bookie who was betting on a cricket match by claiming to win online, a mobile phone and Rs 10250 cash were recovered from the possession of the accused.
The accused used to bet on cricket betting through the online website classicexch.99.com.
The accused used to illegally place cricket bets by making illegal betting IDs of IPL cricket matches.
Action is being taken against the accused after getting information about his connection with cricket bookies in Mumbai. Account details and transactions worth lakhs of rupees seized from the mobile phone of the accused. The other accused are being searched on the basis of the transaction.
Information was received at flat no. 205 Professor Colony, Rakesh Soni is placing bets online using mobile phones. Immediately after informing the senior officers and station in-charge reached the spot and when they entered inside the house a man sitting on a couch inside the house was playing betting on a mobile phone. The man was identified as Rakesh Soni (53).
The police frisked Rakesh and a Vivo company's mobile phone was found and which was checked, in which the betting application was seen with the name classicexch.99.com and in which the betting numbers were displayed.
Police questioned Rakesh and he revealed that he played online betting on the site and he did not have a license for playing online betting, when he asked for the valid documents he failed to produce them. From his possession apart from the mobile phone Rs 10,250 in cash were also recovered. The money was obtained from gambling, the crime against the accused was registered and taken into consideration.
