The Communist Party of India (CPI) in three separate memorandums to Governor Ramnaresh Yadav demanded merger of Kolar Municipality (KM) into Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), justice for Narmada valley displaced and removal of rice factory from Mandideep.
A delegation of the CPI led by its State Secretary Shailendra Kumar Shelly called on Governor Yadav on Monday and handed over three memorandums.
In the first memorandum the left front party told the Governor that earlier the State Government after taking people’s referendum through public hearing decide to merge KM into BMC. But recently the State Government unexpectedly backtracked from its earlier decision and deferred the merger.
There is angst among the common people over the State Government’s decision while the land mafia and those with narrow mindset are happy over it. Due to this unjustified and anti people decision of the State Government, the people of Kolar have been deprived of the development benefits of being citizens of Bhopal. When other suburbs of Bhopal including Bairagarh, Gandhi Nagar, Piplani, Anand Nagar and Misrod are included in Bhopal municipal limits then imposing municipality over the people of Kolar is unjustified. Hence KM should be merged in BMC as this is also necessary for the comprehensive development of Bhopal.
In the second memorandum the CPI told the Governor that the displaced of the Narmada valley have not got justice till now. They are wandering for rehabilitation, compensation and better future despite this decision of increasing the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam by 17 meters last days is tragic for the people of Madhya Pradesh. The disinterest of the State Government over the issue is worrying. The left party demanded that the decision of increasing dam height should be reviewed that too only after providing adequate compensation to the displaced, land in exchange of land, rehabilitation and employment to them.
In the last and third memorandum the CPI demanded that the rice factory in Mandideep should be removed as it is causing pollution that is creating health problems in the locals.
